Southern Illinois Man Facing Charges of Animal Cruelty

Jackson County State’s Attorney Joseph A. Cervantez announced Friday a Murphysboro man is facing animal cruelty charges. Felony charges of animal cruelty have been filed against 22-year-old Jacob K. Spradling.  Spradling was arrested on Wednesday and released on a $50,000 bond. Officials emphasized that charges are not evidence of guilt—a defendant is presumed innocent and is entitled to a fair trial at which this office has the burden of proving guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.” Cervantez added, complaints of animal cruelty will continue to be taken very seriously by my administration.”Details regarding the arrest and future court dates are pending.
