Police say a local teen in Randolph County died after colliding with a train in Praire Du Rocher. They say a 16 year-old girl from in Praire Du Rocher was stopped at a railroad crossing at as stopped at a railroad crossing at Duclos Street, near Berger Lane on Friday at 5:30 p.m. The crossing gates were down and lights were activated. For an unknown reason, the teen driver yielded to a northbound train, but drove around the crossing gates and was struck on the passenger side by a train traveling southbound on a second set of tracks. She was pronounced deceased on scene, and the train crew refused medical attention.
