Muti-Vehicle Crash Under Investigation in Marshal County


Police are still investigating a multi-vehicle collision on I-24 in Marshall County that claimed the life of one driver when his oil tanker truck overturned and caught fire.Kentucky State Police said that Wednesday morning a semi driven by 63-year-old Gary Johnson of  Louisiana struck an abandoned vehicle on the shoulder at mile marker 28. Johnson swerved and caused another semi to cross the median into the oncoming lanes, then struck a tree.Johnson’s truck also crossed the median, overturned and caught fire. An oncoming passenger vehicle collided with the trucks. Johnson was pronounced dead on the scene by the Marshall County Coroner. No other injuries were reported. After the fire was put out, the remaining load of light oil had to be offloaded. It took more than 14 hours to clear the accident scene.
