Shooters Responsible for Weekend Shooting in Carbondale Identified

Carbondale Police are releasing more details in a weekend shooting that left an SIU student dead and multiple others injured.

Police say an investigation indicates there were multiple active shooters, and there is not any additional suspect information to provide at this time.

The shooting that killed Keeshanna Jackson, 18 years old of Chicago also injured three others. Those victims have been identified as:

Jyrin Blair, 29 years old of Marion – Treated for non-life injuries

Raheem Sylas, 23 years old of Murphysboro – Treated for non-life threatening injuries

Juvenile Victim, of Marion – Treated for non-life threatening injuries

Officers were called to the 500 block of West Cherry Street at 3:12 a.m. Sunday morning in response to shots fired at a residence. A party was taking place with both SIU students and non-students.  Jackson was found with gunshot wounds and resuscitation efforts began. She was later pronounced deceased at the Memorial Hospital of Carbondale. While officers were at the hospital, the three other victims arrived with injuries from the shooting.The investigation is currently active and ongoing.Officers ask that anyone who attended the party or that has information about this investigation to contact the Carbondale Police 618-549-2121, SIU Police 618-453-3771 or 618-549-COPS where callers can remain anonymous
