Jackson School District Officials will not require students and staff to wear face coverings this school year. They will strongly recommend them to wear masks, officials say. In addition, the Cape Girardeau School District will also not require face coverings. Both of these decisions contradict the CDC’s guidance to wear masks indoors weather individuals are vaccinated or not. The Jackson School District will also not require vaccination status, but vaccination status could play a factor when it comes to quarantine rules. If any student is exposed to a positive case and they have been vaccinated or were wearing a mask at the time they wouldn’t have to quarantine. The district’s online learning option called Ignite Online will be available to students who have high medical needs or at risk family members.
