Paducah City Officials Approve New E911 and Sports Complex

After the McCracken County Fiscal Court moved forward Monday on two major city/county projects, the Paducah Board of Commissioners followed suit during their meeting on Tuesday. Officials approved memorandum of understanding between the city, county, and the McCracken County Sports Tourism Commission regarding the funding of Paducah-McCracken County Athletic Complex. Along with it, officials in the county and the city commit to be equal partners in financing the design, development, construction, operation, and maintenance cost for the facility. Each government will provide $12.5 million toward the construction. Remaining construction costs will be funded using city and county bonds, transient room tax funds, and the facility’s operating revenues. The city also approved a separate memorandum of understanding with the county to establish the Paducah/McCracken County Community 911 Communications Services System and upgrade the existing equipment. A joint oversight committee will make formal recommendations regarding needed system upgrades and funding options by February 1.
