Firefighter Dies in Car Crash in Paducah

 

A firefighter in the region is laid to rest after passing away in car crash this week. Captain Trevor Doom with the Wicklifee Rural Fire Department had his last ride on Saturday. A procession took place with several firefighters showing their respects and saying final goodbyes at the Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church Cemetery. The 26-year-old had seven years of service with the department including two years as captain. He was also an active member of Concord Fire Department and previously served on the Barlow Rural Fire Department. He passed away Monday, August 2nd in a car crash in Paducah. Police say a semi-tractor was traveling eastbound on Clarks River Road. At the same time, a Ford Taurus was exiting the driveway of a business, crossing both eastbound lanes.

That’s when the two vehicles collided and all five people inside the car including Doom were killed and pronounced dead on scene.

The names of the other victims include:

  • Monica Jewell, 23 years old of LaCenter, the driver of the vehicle
  • Eddie Knight, 44 years old of Eddyville
  • Alexander Hudson, 14 years old of Marion, KY
  • Linda Young, 54 years old of Marion, KY

The driver, was also, Doom’s fiancé.

At this time, the investigation into the cause of this collision is still ongoing.
