Illinois is the first for improving access to care for cancer patients. Governor JB Pritzker signed a bill to expand coverage for biomarker testing. This type of testing helps patients find the exact medicine they need for treatment. Officials with the he American Cancer Society Action Network say having biomarker testing available to everyone will make a big difference for all Illinoisans. They say people see a cost savings and they’re time doing therapies that might not actually treat their desease. So instead of the traditional tools that we think of that we think of cancer care like chemo or radiation, you’re able to go right to the therapy they know is going to work for them.
