More than a dozen fire departments responded to an early morning fire at a business in Delta, Missouri on Tuesday, July 27. When crews arrived shortly after 1 a.m., smoke could be seen coming from Bud’s Air Compressor Service located at 317 East State Street. Flames could also be seen coming out of the eves of the metal roof. Firefighters say the fire is contained to one building and currently there is not a concern it will spread. Crews went into defensive mode at 3:15 a.m. and started working on hot spots at approximately 6:30 a.m. Firefighters say the blaze has been difficult due to concrete walls boxed in by metal siding. Officials believe building has been remodeled several times and they went on to explain that there are layers of materials in the way that firefighters need to get to in order put out any potential hot spots. t the height of the fire, one woman who lives next to the business hoped firefighters would be able to keep the flames contained to the business. What sparked the fire is unknown at this time. Highway 25 at Liberty Street was closed a few hours to traffic to allow crews to battle the fire. The highway was reopened shortly before 7:30 a.m.
