Cape Girardeau County officials Looking for Good Uses for County Facilities

Cape Girardeau County Commissioners are trying to answer the question what is the best use of the old Cape Girardeau County Courthouse. This is part of a facility review study that was authorized Thursday during a short County Commission Meeting. County Commissioners gave their approval to a motion to engage Navigate Building Solutions of St.Louis to conduct a study of its facilities to assist the county in planning for and accommodating the space needs of different county government functions. Officials say they want the study done to answer many questions related to county buildings and offices. Cape Girardeau County will spend $208,420 on this study that will be paid for through Cape Girardeau County’s use tax. The old courthouse has been vacant since the county’s new courthouse opened last year.
