Birth Control Pills Can be Taken Without Prescription in Illinois

.Governor .J.B. Pritzker signed a new law on Thursday to make birth control an over-the-counter medication in Illinois. Illinois is the second state in the Midwest to offer access to birth control over the counter. Governor Pritzker signed House Bill 0135 into law  that also expands Medicaid to cover birth control costs and requires pharmacist to receive training on how to talk to individuals about  available birth control options. House Bill 0135 goes into effect on New Years Day while provisions that affect the Insurance Code go into effect on New Year’s Day 2023
