Lemonade Stands Can be Operated Without Food Permits in Illinois Starting Next Year

Starting next year all children and teenagers will be able to set up their own lemonade stands without a food permit. Illinois Governor JB Pritzker signed SB119 recently that allows a lemonade stand to be operated by a person younger than sixteen without regulation and without the need to apply for a temporary food permit with the local health department. The new law may also be referred to as “Hayli’s Law and it goes into effect starting Jan. 1, 2022.
