Parson sets tight deadline for Missouri Medicaid funding fix

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (AP) — Missouri Gov. Mike Parson is setting a deadline for lawmakers to work out a deal on a critical piece of Medicaid funding. If lawmakers can’t find a solution by Tuesday afternoon, Parson says he’ll cut $722 million from the budget July 1. At issue is an effort by some Republican lawmakers to stop Medicaid coverage for some contraceptives. Those lawmakers are trying to attach the ban to a tax on medical providers that draws down a significant amount of federal Medicaid funding. Parson says time is running out for lawmakers to cut a deal and protect the funding.
