Crews Battle Structure Fire in Paducah on Memorial Day

Paducah firefighters battled what’s described as a major five alarm structure fire Monday night on the downtown I-24 business loop Officials reported the fire about 7:30 p.m. in the Precision Machine, Inc. building on South 3rd Street. All surrounding streets were closed with Paducah Fire Department trucks, and multiple McCracken County fire and police units at the scene. An aerial truck attacked the blaze from overhead as it broke through the roof of the structure, and several fire personnel went into the burning building in an attempt to get the fire under control. Smoke from the fire was visible from as far away as Noble Park There were no reports of injuries from the fire. The downtown business loop at South 3rd is still closed between Husbands Street and Elizabeth Street from last night’s response to the fire. Officials say it is likely to remain closed through the day.
