MDHEWD partners with Show-Me Hope to focus on student mental health

The Missouri Department of Higher Education & Workforce Development (MDHEWD) will host a webinar, Wednesday, May 26, at 10 a.m. on student success and mental health. More than 260 educators are registered to attend. Hosted in partnership with the Missouri Department of Mental Health and Show-Me Hope Missouri, the webinar will provide discussion and resources on how students and staff can prioritize mental health. A separate event, specifically for students, will stream live from the Journey to College Instagram account Tuesday, June 1, at 2 p.m. MDHEWD recently surveyed institutions to see what stressors are impacting their students. The top answers were depression, anxiety, financial burdens, loneliness, and isolation. Many of these factors have been further exacerbated throughout the COVID-19 pandemic. Wednesday’s webinar is for anyone who interacts with students at the high school and college levels. Speakers include Commissioner Mulligan and Rachel Jones, manager of trauma-informed treatment for the division of behavioral health. Those interested in attending the webinar can register here.
