Southern Illinois University Carbondale Lifts Mask Requirement for Fully Vaccinated People

Southern Illinois University Carbondale is relaxing some of their mask restrictions for the fully vaccinated students and staff. Effective immediately, for those who are fully vaccinated, face coverings and physical distancing will not be required indoors or outdoors for fully vaccinated individuals Exceptions to this guidance include health care settings and public transportation, like the SIU Student Health Center and Saluki Express, as well as for certain on-campus activities. Those who are not fully vaccinated masks will be required for anyone over the age of two and able to medically tolerate a face covering.  This requirement applies whether in an indoor space, like a store in a public outdoor space where maintaining a six-foot social distance is not always possible. University officials will continue to monitor the situation on campus, in the region and in the state and adjust as necessary.
