The City of Carbondale recently named Interim Police Chief Stan Reno as their new leader of the Carbondale Police Department. The announcement was made at 9 a.m. on Wednesday. Carbondale city officials made the announcement during a media conference in front of Carbondale officers and Reno’s family. His father was an officer with the Carbondale Police Department for twenty-eight years and retired as a Lieutenant. Reno has spent nearly twenty-four years with department. Earlier this month, the city’s Chief of Police Selection Committee selected two finalists for the Chief of Police position. The seven person committee recommended Interim Carbondale Police Chief Stan Reno and John Franklin. Officials say, Franklin is a former police chief in Jacksonville, Arkansas and in Dolton, Illinois and also a retired commander from the Chicago Police Department.
