Face Coverings Optional at Kelly Schools

Wearing face masks in the Scott County R-4 “Kelly” School District is no longer mandatory, it’s optional. The Kelly Board of Education revisited the district’s mask policy during their most recent meeting. Board members made the decision that wearing a face covering is optional and it went into effect for the whole district on Wednesday. Officials say about two weeks ago the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention shortened the length of social distancing from 6 feet to 3 feet. They also cited d recent discrepancies regarding COVID-19 transfer and surfaces as well as issues with masks. They say due to the CDC relaxing their social distancing standards, they thought it would be a good time for the board to review the current policy again. After a short discussion, e Board approved amending the mask policy. Officials say if anyone still wants to wear a mask they are free to do so.
