Tiny homes could offer great opportunities to those that are homeless in Cape Girardeau and the Community Partnership of Southeast Missouri wants to bring tiny homes to the local area. The group presented their idea to members of the Cape Girardeau City Council on Monday, April 5, 2021. Officials say there is a definitive gap in the community they are serving, what they consider, their chronic homeless population and it is time to fill this gap by providing the homeless population with a place to stay. The Community Partnership of Southeast Missouri wants to put the tiny homes on 130 South Frederick St. adjacent to FCC Behavioral Health. Officials say this space in particular would be ideal for their agency to provide that administrative oversight, because their new office is just around the corner. Officials say they hope o bring in mental health and addiction services to address the needs of the community as well.
