Local Counties Have Slight Decreases in Unemployment Rate

The most up to date data that was revealed the Missouri Department of Labor and Industrial Relations revealed that local employment within Cape Girardeau County is continuing to get better. It revealed that throughout the region there were slight unemployment-rate declines by only a fraction of a percentage point. February’s county-by-county jobless data that was released by the state on Tuesday puts Cape Girardeau County’s most recent unemployment rate at 3.9 percent, which is less than   four-tenths of a percentage point from January’s 4.3percent rate. Of the Missouri counties neighbor Cape Girardeau County, Scott County was the only had a significant decline in its unemployment rate in February, going down several tenths of a percentage point to 4.5 percent from 4.9 percent in January.
