Fire Burns over Twenty Acres of Fountain Bluff in Shawnee National Forest

A fire broke out Tuesday evening on Fountain Bluff in Jackson County, and is still growing. Fountain Bluff is located in Shawnee National Forest. Officials say they were dispatched to the fire around 5:10 p.m. The U.S. Forest Service took over firefighting operations. A perimeter has been set up to block the fire in, no property is threatened. The start of the fire is still under investigation, but it is believed to have been started by someone. Approximately 27 acres have burned so far according to fire officials on scene.
