A Paducah woman was arrested Sunday for allegedly exploiting a protected person. On December 30, the McCracken County Sheriff’s Office began investigating an allegation that 19-year-old Jetta Owen was exploiting someone for money. Officials say they were able to prove that the victim was a young adult that was easily susceptible to exploitation and needed protection. Over a year, Owen reportedly gave the victim multiple false reasons for needing the money, including for her children and surgery. Detectives say Owen does not have children and is not seeing a physician. She allegedly received over $5,000 from the victim. Sunday afternoon, Owen was arrested and charged with knowingly exploiting an adult over $300, a class C felony. She was lodged in the McCracken County Jail.
