Dozens of Individuals Have Turned in Applications for Cape Girardeau City Manager Position

A total of fifty applicants have applied for the City of Cape Girardeau’s soon to be opening for city manager. The city’s current city manager Scott Meyer plans to retire in June, following a dozen years as city manager. He’s been the longest tenured city manager in municipal history. Cape Girardeau’s s consulting firm, GovHR USA, will spend this month reviewing the credentials of every applicant and narrowing the field of potential candidates in accordance with guidelines that were put in place by the Cape Girardeau City Council. City officials said, at the beginning of next month members of the city council will meet with a GovHR USA to determine three to five finalists for the position and invite them to town to be interviewed.
