Riverside Regional Library Still Providing Free Bagged Lunches

Riverside Regional Library is still providing free meals during this coronavirus pandemic.  Officials with Riverside Regional Library have expanded their bagged lunch program to families in all six locations in Perry, Cape Girardeau and Scott Counties. Officials say this is in connection with their summer reading program when they provided lunches free of charge to children and families who were not attending school, but they were in need of food. They say whatever they can do to assist they will and due  to the uncertainty of children going back to school some still doing virtual classes and things like that, it’s the same need. Food insecurity went up during the last calendar year throughout the region compared to 2019 because of COVID 19. These lunches consist of salad cup, sunflower kernels, raisins, enriched crackers and apple sauce. Anyone who is in need of a bagged lunch, they do not have to be a member l, nor do they have to show any income requirements, officials say. Everyone can have one.
