The Jackson R-2 School District Names New Superintendent

The members of the Jackson R-2 School Board recently selected Scott A. Smith to succeed the retiring superintendent Dr. John Link. The announcement of his appointment was made to district officials on Tuesday. He is currently the superintendent of the Gasconade County R-1 School District and he has twenty- three years of educational experience.  He will start in his new role on July 1, 2020 after Dr. John Link retires the day prior. Members of the Jackson R-2 School Board worked alongside the  EGL (Education Governance Leadership) Association, which is an educational recruitment and consulting firm, in order to name superintendent candidates throughout the state and boarder states. The applicant pool was slimed to a total of five potential candidates earlier in the month. Officials say they interview all five of them and then locked themselves in a room to give their opinions. In addition, board members also solicited feedback from educational leaders and the Community Teachers Association (CTA) representatives during their search for a new superintendent.
