A Paducah man faces assault charges after a shooting Thursday afternoon at a home where a homemade explosive device was also found. Deputies responded to a home on Concord Avenue and found 29-year-old Tyler Busby of Paducah in the driveway. Busby had two gunshot wounds and was taken to Lourdes Hospital where he is in stable condition. The suspect, 43-year-old Jay Garland, was still at the scene when deputies arrived. Deputies said Garland shot Busby while Busby was attempting to protect his mother from a domestic violence situation involving Garland. A search of the home reportedly uncovered a homemade explosive, prompting the Paducah Police Department’s bomb squad to assist deputies with the removal of the explosive. Garland is in the McCracken County Jail charged with first degree assault and possession of a handgun by a convicted felon.
