Illinois Department of Natural Resources Reveals Statistics for First Weekend of Firearms Deer Season

Deer harvest statistics for the opening weekend of Deer Firearms Season in Illinois are lower for this year from last year. Officials with the Illinois Department of Natural Resources say from Friday, November 20 through Sunday, November 22, 2020 hunters around the state harvested a total of 47,147 deer and last year a total of 50,173 deer.  The counties with the highest total of deer harvested were Randolph County with 1,193 and Jefferson County with 1,080. The state’s second and final Firearm Deer Season starts on December 3, 2020 and concludes on Sunday December 6, 2020.
