Western Kentucky Man Locks Himself in Bank and Threatens Workers

A western Kentucky man is now in jail after an incident Wednesday afternoon inside a downtown Paducah bank. Police say Joseph P. White claimed to be a U.S. Marshal and threatened employees because the U.S. Bank lobby was closed. Investigators say White claimed he was a U.S. Marshal. He told the witnesses there “…was a sniper on a nearby building who would begin shooting if he called him. Paducah Police say White carried a large knife and began searching the building for a particular employee. Eventually he locked himself inside an office until officers arrived. White agreed to surrender if a particular detective to Kentucky State Police was on scene. White is now in the McCracken County Jail.
