Members of the Cape Girardeau City Council to Receive Update on City Manager Search

The Illinois-based consultant, who is tasked with picking out candidates to succeed retiring city manager Scott Meyer, will give members of the Cape Girardeau City Council an update on the progress of the search on Monday during a private meeting. GovHR USA vice president Mark Peterson, who served as Normal Illinois Municipal Manager for 20 years will convene with the members of the Cape Girardeau City Council for a closed session. One member of the city council will have to attend the closed meeting remotely because the city’s mayor recently tested positive for COVID 19. Patterson will provide updates about what he finds following a surveying both employees, staff and council men of the city and the next step is evolving a city manager profile. When the profile is finished a process will be developed to advertise the opening and they don’t expect that they will not advertise the position until after New Year’s Day.
