A Paducah man is facing numerous charges following a high-speed pursuit through parts of Paducah and McCracken County. On Thursday, the Paducah Police Department contacted the McCracken County Sheriff’s Office for assistance with stopping a vehicle that was involved in a hit and run collision at Wal-Mart on Irvin Cobb Drive. Paducah police halted their portion of the pursuit as the vehicle turned onto Oaks Road from John Puryear. At this time, deputies with the McCracken County Sheriff’s Office noticed the vehicle traveling on Oaks Road at a high rate of speed and driving recklessly.
The vehicle continued traveling at a high rate of speed, then caught on fire near Baggett Lane on Oaks Road. The driver then abandoned the vehicle and fled on foot through the nearby woods. After a brief altercation with deputies, the man was arrested and identified as 38-year-old Phillip Parker. Parker is charged with first degree fleeing or evading police (vehicle), second degree fleeing or evading police (on foot), operating a vehicle while under the influence of alcohol, among other charges.
