Lawrence leads midyear honors in ACC with mistake-free play

(AP)- Trevor Lawrence has been at his best from the start for top-ranked Clemson. The junior quarterback has thrown 15 touchdown passes with just one interception so far for the Tigers. That’s why the Heisman Trophy candidate was picked as the Atlantic Coast Conference’s top offensive player through the season’s first half in voting by The Associated Press writers covering league teams. Lawrence’s nearly mistake-free play has helped Clemson rank third nationally by averaging 48.4 points per game. Other midyear honorees include Virginia Tech coach Justin Fuente, Pittsburgh defensive end Patrick Jones II and Georgia Tech running back Jahmyr Gibbs.
