Government officials recently announced that three community and technical colleges in the state recently received an amount of $2,179,201 in federal funding to support workforce development in rural communities throughout the state. This competitive grant funding was awarded by the U.S. Department of Labor (DOL) through a partnership with the Delta Regional Authority and the Appalachian Regional Commission (ARC). West Kentucky Community and Technical College in Paducah will receive a total of $277,291worth of funding to be utilized to provide an array of talent for industries that require their employees to have experience in technical trades like welding, heavy-equipment operating and diesel mechanics. The two other community and technical colleges that received funding were Maysville Community and Technical College and Big Sandy Community and Technical College.
