School Districts throughout Illinois Receive Over $80 Million for Digital Resources

Hundreds of school districts throughout the state of Illinois will receive millions of dollars worth of funding to assist in closing the digital divide that is due to the COVID 19 pandemic.  Around 471 Local Education Agencies (LEAs) will receive a total of $80,092,677 to buy electronics and also to spread out internet connectivity for students throughout the state during this fall season. State officials say that over $2.1 million students have began the current school year with remote learning and an additional 528,000 are learning in either a hybrid or blended learning format. Some of the local schools that will be receiving funding include Pinckneyville CHSD 101, $53,416, Murphysboro CUSD 186, $137,773, and Carbondale ESD 95, $ 113,316.
