Teen Dies in Crash in Randolph County

• An unlicensed 15 year-old driver crashed an SUV in Randolph County, Illinois, which left a 14-year-old passenger dead and a five-year-old passenger injured. The deadly crash happened at 1:20 p.m. on Sunday, September 6. Police say the 15-year-old driver from Coulterville was driving too fast east on Moffet Road near Valley Steel Road, when she lost control on the gravel. The teen was thrown from the 2003 Silver Chevrolet SUV and received life threatening injuries. She was flown to a regional hospital for treatment. The 14 year-old passenger, from Cutler, was partially thrown from the vehicle and died at the scene. Police say the five-year old girl passenger, from Coulterville, was not secured in a car seat and received non-life threatening injuries. The child was transported by ambulance to a local hospital. The 15 year-old faces the following charges in connection with the crash no valid driver’s license, failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident, and improper lane usage among other charges.
