Local businesses in Cape Girardeau County now can receive reimbursements for costs related to the COVID 19 outbreak. The reimbursements will come from the county’s Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security (CARES) Act fund. County officials have assigned the Cape Girardeau Area Magnet to be in charge of reviewing reimbursement applications to determine which companies will be eligible and how much grants will be worth. Expenses the funding can be used for include sanitizer products, divider shields and personal protective equipment. In order for a local business to receive funding the business has to provide any proof that they have any expenses due to the outbreak. Businesses must also prove they didn’t expect to have these expenses in their current business budget that gained approval as recently as March 27, 2020. The funds that will be awarded will be sent out to local business that were approved through checks that will be written out to the legal name of every approved business within a month of their application being submitted.
