Members of the Cape Girardeau County Commission gave their approval to reimbursement payments on Monday to many county school systems in the area along with the Riverside Regional Library for the many expenses the school and the library have that are related to the coronavirus pandemic. These reimbursements that were approved are the first part of what officials think will be many such payments that are alike in the months that follow due to coronavirus disbursements. Along with the commission giving their consentient approval they also had discussions concerning many projected COVID 19 related costs within the future that they currently expect will cost a total of over $1.5 million. Officials expect to pay for all expenses related to the coronavirus out of the $9,253,142 that was provided to the county through the Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security (CARES) Act. The CARES Act gives county officials the right to reimburse schools, county agencies, and health care providers among others for costs they come across during the COVID 19, like purchasing personal protective equipment.
