A man hunt is over for a suspect for a man police considered dangerous and possibly armed. Police say 26-year-old Victor Grebing was found inside the Perry County line around 7 a.m. on Wednesday. Sheriff Deputies took Grebing into custody and transported him to the Cape Girardeau County Justice Center. Grebing is wanted in connection with a homicide investigation after a woman was shot and killed. Police Grebing is the woman’s ex-boyfriend and he is person of interest in the case. The investigation started uesday, June 23, after the sheriff’s office received a 911 call around 3:36 p.m. from a home on State Highway 61 near the intersection of State Highway KK near Old Appleton. The caller reported there was a fight and someone was shot. Deputies arrived on the scene and found a woman with an apparent gunshot wound. The victim died from her injury and a homicide investigation was started. The sheriff’s office then activated a manhunt for Grebing in the New Bethel Church area, specifically around County Roads 525, 523 and 532. Officials said he was spotted in this area around 7 p.m. after he ran into a wooded area. As deputies searched the area, residents were warned to be careful of strangers.
