A fire at a solid waste management company is under investigation. The Delta Fire Department, Cape Girardeau County Sheriff’s Department and the fire marshal are investigating the cause of the fire at Pete Tanner’s Solid Waste. Multiple fire crews were dispatched to the fire in Delta, Missouri early Thursday, May 28. Officials say around 3:30 a.m. a fire sparked at a workshop on the property of Pete Tanner’s Solid Waste on Liberty Street. The flames could be seen coming from the building when fire crews arrived. In addition to keeping the fire from spreading, fire crews said they are concerned about oxygen and other tanks on the property igniting. The cause of the fire is unknown at this time. The facility currently provides rash pick-up and other services for several homes and businesses in the region.
