City Officials in Jackson Propose Reductions in Electric Rates for Residents

The engineering firm of 1898 & Company was recently hired to conduct an appraisal of the City of Jackson’s ability to provide a prompt reduction to retail electric rates for this month. Based on their firm’s preliminary assessment of the City’s projected utility expenses that were provided to them by the Missouri Public Utility Alliance (MPUA), the city’s   power provider, power supply expenses are projected to come down by almost ten percent starting next July. This translates to a total of $1.2 million annually in cost reduction. Enforcing a rate revenue reduction of 11.5 percent will bring down revenues by $1 million this year and $2 million next year.
