The Jackson Fire Rescue is currently installing a 9/11 memorial to pay tribute to the 343 firefighters who perished in the September 11 attacks in 2001. The majority of the $15,000 needed for the monument, has been collected, but they still need to raise $1,000.Thier goal is to set up granite towers with the names of the firemen who were killed engraved on them. The two towers will represent the World Trade Center towers. Benches and flag poles will be put on the Pentagon shaped base of the memorial containing facts about 9/11 etched in them. Officials say the memorial will provide a place for people from all over the world o come pay their respects and remember all the victims lost and families who were affected that day. Officials also plan to use the walkway to the memorial to remember any fireman’s death in the area and engrave the names one of the stones. The Jackson Fire Rescue is collecting donations to complete the project and they hope to finish it on September 11, 2020 for a ceremony.
