City Officials in Jackson Begin Flush City’s Hydrant Systems

City officials in Jackson h started flushing the city’s water distribution and hydrant systems on Monday. This will take place from until 3.p.m. until the program is finished. Officials say this could have an effect on every household, business and industry due to the water supply being on a loop-type system. Residents can find a schedule of areas to be flushed weekly on both the city and fire department’s website. The program is completed annually for the removal of all mineral sediment which can build up in the pipes and keep up the valves and the hydrant system. In addition, doing this makes water quality better. City officials say the flushing activities do not affect the safety of the water supply, but the water may appear to have discoloration when flushing is taking place due to temporary stirring of sediments.
