Southern Illinois University Carbondale is Making Face Shield for Southern Illinois Healthcare Workers

Southern Illinois University is currently using 3-D printing technology to make face shields for the employees of Southern Illinois Healthcare. The university has delivered around 150 shields to Southern Illinois Healthcare and they delivered twenty additional shields on Monday. University officials say they are just happy to be able to provide just a little bit of assistance. The face shields will help provide protection of an employee’s eyes, nose and mouth when they work with all of their patients.  Students and staff began working with raw filaments and other materials that were available, but they have ordered additional ones. The university will continue making the shields as long as it is necessary and it takes around three hours just to make one shield. If anyone wants to donate masks to Southern Illinois Healthcare there’s a donation box at the Southern Illinois Healthcare System Office near the University Mall.
