All Kentucky Institutions of Higher Education to Receive a Minimum of $156Million in federal COVID-19 Relief

All colleges and universities within the state of Kentucky will receive a minimum of $156 million in federal grants amid at help with the COVID-19 crisisThis includes the cost of moving to online coursework and other changes related to courses. The funding comes from the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act. The act was signed into law on March 27, 2020. College students throughout the state will receive $78 million from the fund to assist them in paying for emergency expenses due to the semester being suspended because of the outbreak. Officials say institutions are currently in the process of developing their own separate guidelines to awarding funds to their students. Students can use the grant money to pay for expenses including technology, food, housing and childcare.
