To prevent the coronavirus from spreading city officials in Jackson will close parts of the city’s parks and the playground areas at the Jackson R-2 School campuses and other Jackson City facilities, such as City Hall, courts, and the sanitation and the recycling center. The closures will go into effect at 12:01 .a.m. on Saturday. Signage and temporary fencing to discourage use will be posted by city and school district crews on Friday night. Areas to close include: tennis courts, basketball courts, the skate park, playgrounds and other gathering areas. The city will keep recreation trails and green space open. City officials said these areas will only stay open as long as guests avoid groups of 10 or less and stay at least six feet away from non-household members.
