The Gym at Perryville High School to Serve as Shelter for Local Emergency Workers

Perryville High School was recently transformed into an emergency shelter for emergency workers to stay to help contain the spread of the coronavirus. The school was transformed into a shelter on Wednesday to keep health workers on the frontline from spreading the virus to their families. School officials say that when they learned of the need they immediately offered to do whatever possible to serve local heroes in the community. The high school gym is now a barracks and workers will have access to locker rooms and kitchen and laundry facilities. The gym will be used as a shelter for as long as possible. When it is closed, District 32 staff will sanitize all areas following the CDC guidelines.
