Ameren Electric Makes Donation of $500,000 to Virus Relief in Missouri and Illinois

Ameren officials have announced they will donate $500,000 to assist individuals that were impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic in both Missouri and Illinois. The AmerenCares program will provide $250,000 to a new fund started by the Illinois United Way and the Alliance of Illinois Community Foundations. All donations made will go towards local community foundations and nonprofit organizations to assist residents within Illinois with emergency food, housing an shelter,  and medical services, among other things they may need. So far, the fund has raised a total of $23 million as of Thursday night. In addition the program will provide $250,000 to the United Way of Greater St. Louis COVID-19 Response Fund with the goal of assisting United Way’s s 2-1-1 program. The program’s purpose is to serve as an emergency relief line and to guide calls related to the crisis and hardships to United Way’s nonprofit member agencies.
