Southern Illinois University Carbondale Not Having Graduation in May

Southern Illinois University Carbondale officials have decided to not have this year’s spring commencement in May because of the ongoing concerns of coronivirus. University officials say they are not canceling commencement, but looking at other alternatives for graduation. Officials say they are celebrating graduation virtually or they’re going to hold a future ceremony. The university is welcoming ideas from students. The university previously confirmed they will be transitioning to online courses after spring break and classes resume on Monday. No cases of COVID-19 have been identified on the campus.
