First Coronovirus Case Confirmed in Jackson County Illinois

Health officials have confirmed that there has been a positive test for the coronivirus in Jackson County Illinois. Health officials say they were notified late on Wednesday afternoon, March 18 about a resident who tested positive. The person is a woman in her 50’s. They say she is doing well and is at home on isolation. Officials say they think she was exposed through recent travel to another state. Public health officials started an investigation into the case, talking to individuals who she may have come into contact with before the diagnosis. They say to expect more cases to be confirmed locally, as the number of tests being conducted is increasing. On Wednesday, state officials said Illinois was up to 288 positive cases. The Jackson County Board issued a disaster declaration for the county.
