Southern Illinois University Carbondale is making spring break longer for students due to the coronivirus outbreak. The university’s spring break will now last until next Sunday. Beginning on March 23, 2020 classes will be offered in online or other alternative formats until further notice. University officials say they will provide more details of their plans in a couple of days on their coronavirus response website. The university will continue normal operations such as teaching and research. All students will have the choice of whether to return to campus either to study or retrieve materials. Currently there haven’t been any coronavirus cases reported on campus. Southern Illinois University Carbondale is joining other Illinois public institutions in taking precautionary measures.
