August Primary Election Expected to be Tight

A minimum of three Cape Girardeau County office races will be contested in the primary election that is scheduled for August 4, 2020. The filing process began back on February 25, 2020.  A dozen seats have been filled as of right now for the Republican Primary. No one has filled any seats for the Democratic primary. Currant Commissioner Paul Koeper will run against two other candidates who were identified as Dwayne Kirchhoff and Josh Biester. All three candidates will run for the First District Associate Commissioner position. The current Cape Girardeau County Sheriff Ruth Ann Dickerson will face off against Former Missouri DPS Director Drew Juden. Four other currant office holders are running for reelection, but they are not currently running against anyone. The current office holders were identified as Second District Associate Commissioner Charlie Herbst, Assessor Bob Adams, Treasurer Roger Hudson and Public Administrator Lisa Reitzel.
